A tragic accident claimed the life of a 26-year-old techie, Rohith R Patil, in East Bengaluru on Friday evening. The incident occurred around 6:30 pm on ITPL Road, near the Airports Authority of India (AAI) compound wall, when Patil, a resident of Bommanahalli, was on his way to work in Brookefield.
According to the police, Patil’s motorcycle skidded due to an optical fibre cable lying on the road, which got entangled in the wheel, causing him to lose control and fall. Unfortunately, as he fell, a BMTC bus ran over him. Despite wearing a helmet, Patil succumbed to severe blood loss and was declared dead at the scene.
The police mentioned that while the bus was not speeding, the heavy peak-hour traffic made it difficult for the driver to stop in time to avoid the accident. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident.
