
Bengaluru Temples Echo with Prayers for Soldiers Amid Operation Sindoor Tensions
Temples across Bengaluru and the state resonated with sacred chants and rituals as devotees, spiritual leaders, and political figures came together to offer prayers for the safety and strength of India’s armed forces in light of the escalating situation following Operation Sindoor.
The Muzrai Department, which oversees nearly 35,000 temples statewide, issued a directive urging these temples to conduct special homas, pujas, and chants dedicated to Indian soldiers stationed along the borders. The initiative aimed to honor their valor and sacrifice, while invoking divine protection.
In response, major temples in Bengaluru organized elaborate ceremonies. At the historic Gavi Gangadeshwara Temple in Basavanagudi, a two-hour Durga homa was performed. Head priest Somasundar Dixit said, “We prayed for our soldiers’ protection, national peace, and victory. Invoking divine blessings in times of conflict is rooted in our tradition.”
The Banashankari Temple, a renowned shrine in South Bengaluru, conducted special abhishekas and aarthis, seeking divine aid for India’s future missions. The Kaadu Malleshwara Temple in Malleswaram performed extended rudra parayana and homas, drawing scores of devotees in solemn prayer.
BJP state president BY Vijayendra, along with party leaders, visited the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple to pray for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s strength in leading the nation through these challenging times. Meanwhile, the Karanji Anjaneya Swamy Temple offered rituals focused on safeguarding soldiers’ health.
Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy described the mass prayers as a gesture of gratitude towards the forces ensuring national security.
