Bengaluru: Several areas across Bengaluru will experience scheduled power cuts from October 23 to October 31, as the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) undertakes maintenance, repair, and upgrade work on various substations and 11 kV feeder lines. The company has asked residents to cooperate during this nine-day exercise aimed at improving electricity infrastructure in the city.

According to BESCOM, the power outage will last approximately eight hours each day, from 10 am to 6 pm, though exact timings may vary depending on the progress of work in each locality. Residents should expect intermittent electricity supply during this period.
Citizens are advised to charge essential devices, back up critical data, and make alternate arrangements to cope with the interruptions.

Frequent outages in Bengaluru
Over the past two months, parts of Bengaluru have been grappling with frequent power interruptions, often lasting eight to nine hours, particularly over weekends. Notices from Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd (KPTCL) and BESCOM have cited routine maintenance and infrastructure upgrades as the reasons for these outages.
Officials clarified that these interruptions are not load-shedding, but part of a long-pending maintenance drive aimed at improving the overall power supply system in the city.
Conclusion
While the scheduled power cuts may cause short-term inconvenience, they are necessary to ensure long-term reliability and safety of Bengaluru’s electricity network. Residents are advised to plan their activities accordingly and follow updates from BESCOM for any changes in schedules.
