Proposal Overview

Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) MN Anucheth disclosed that the proposed system entails software and IT equipment, with an estimated cost of Rs 4 crore, to be procured from abroad. The Traffic Micro Simulation Modelling system will be installed at the Traffic Management Centre, enabling authorities to simulate various traffic scenarios and assess the potential impact of proposed measures before implementation.

Key Features and Benefits

Anucheth highlighted that the simulation system allows for the assessment of traffic conditions and the formulation of effective strategies to manage congestion. By simulating scenarios such as crowd diversion and one-way road implementations, authorities can make informed decisions to optimize traffic flow and minimize disruptions.

Traffic Challenges in Bengaluru

With approximately 1.2 crore registered vehicles and 3,000 vehicles being added daily, Bengaluru faces significant traffic challenges. Anucheth identified the top 30 congested junctions, including Hebbal flyover, Silk Board, Gorguntepalya, Devarabeesanahalli, and Big Bazaar Junction, emphasizing the urgent need for innovative solutions to address congestion issues.

Path Forward

The traffic department anticipates obtaining approval for the proposal following the lifting of the model code of conduct, paving the way for the implementation of the Traffic Micro Simulation Modelling system. This initiative represents a proactive approach towards improving urban mobility and ensuring a smoother traffic experience for Bengaluru residents.
