The Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) have filed 870 cases against motorists for driving under the influence of alcohol during a special drive from September 9 to 15. Following their August decision to intensify weekly drunk-driving checks citywide, the police have recorded hundreds of violations. Between August 23 and 31, 1,707 drivers were booked across 50 stations. In the second week of September alone, over 57,700 vehicles were inspected, leading to 870 positive alcohol tests.
