Tragedy struck on the outskirts of Bengaluru as two separate road accidents during New Year’s night claimed four lives and injured seven others.
In the first incident, a car carrying seven friends overturned near Hosapalya around 3 a.m. as they searched for a tea shop after celebrations. The crash killed Manju (31) and Kiran (30), both from Cholanayakanahalli, on the spot. The vehicle reportedly lost control, spun multiple times, and sustained heavy damage. The five survivors were rushed to a government hospital in Magadi with serious injuries.
In another accident near Sathanur, Kanakapura, a car collided with a tanker around 11:30 p.m. The vehicle carried private firm employees returning to Bengaluru from Mysuru. Niranjan (47), from Davanagere, and Vishwanath (48), from Mysuru, who were in the front seats, died instantly. Veeresh (40) and Ajith (24), seated at the back, were critically injured. The group worked at an Electronics City-based company.
These incidents highlight the perils of late-night travel during festivities. Authorities urge motorists to exercise caution, especially on highways and city outskirts.
