The arrested individuals include Aditya, a resident of Kaduganahalli in Ashok Nagar and a first-semester mechanical engineering student at a private college in TC Palya. His friend, aged 18, had failed his II PU exams and recently enrolled in a private college. Following the video’s circulation, netizens condemned their actions for risking public safety.
Police collected blood samples from both students to determine if they were under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time. Using the scooter’s registration number, police traced Aditya, who then identified his friend.
Traffic police penalised Aditya for rash driving and riding without a helmet. His electric scooter was seized, and the case was transferred to Hennur law and order police. Both students were arrested under Section 285 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for “danger or obstruction in a public way or line of navigation.”
