Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that the number of vehicles in the City will likely outnumber its population in the next five years. He said that more than 7,000 cameras will be installed to monitor traffic in the City.

The City has a 1.25 Crore population but only 1.03 Crore vehicles, he informed the Legislative Assembly, before the Bengaluru Metropolitan Land Transport Authority Bill was passed.

Bengaluru adds 5,000 new vehicles per day, he claimed. He also said that one of the causes is two to three vehicles per home.
