Bengaluru: Four Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) workers have been arrested on allegations of giving fake ID cards to representatives of the NGO Chilume Trust in connection with the voter data theft case.

Revenue Officers Chandrashekar K. (Mahadevapura), Suhail Ahmed (Shivajinagar), and Bheemashankar (Chickpet), as well as Assistant Revenue Officer Mahesh (RR Nagar), were arrested on Saturday by the Halasuru Gate police.

The BBMP suspended these officers on November 21. The Suspension order stated, “According to the Representation of the People Act, no private person or organisation can issue identity cards for election-related activities in the election process. The electoral registration officers (ERO) had also signed on the ID card. This is a serious dereliction of duty.”
