As Cyclone Michaung wreaks havoc in Chennai and neighboring areas, Bengaluru is bracing for potential weather changes. The cyclonic storm, projected to cross the Andhra Pradesh coast on December 5, is influencing the weather in the Garden City.
According to A Prasad, a scientist at the India Meteorological Department, Bengaluru can anticipate cloudy weather in the coming days, possibly accompanied by rainfall. Temperature fluctuations are expected to range between 27 degrees Celsius and 19 degrees Celsius. Additionally, winds at speeds of 30 to 40 kmph may usher in a brief cold wave.
Varuna Mitra portal reported a noticeable drop in Bengaluru’s temperature on Sunday evening. Areas such as Mahadevapura, Yelahanka, and Dasarahalli recorded varying temperatures, hinting at the changing weather patterns.
The Regional Meteorological Department predicts “light rain” in Bengaluru over the next two days. The daily press release outlines expectations of generally cloudy skies, light rain, and mist during early morning hours. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 24 and 20 degrees Celsius, respectively.
As heavy rains persist in Bengaluru and nearby districts, civic agencies are addressing inundation in low-lying areas and residential zones. Power outages and internet disruptions have been reported, emphasizing the impact of Michaung’s influence on the city’s weather conditions.
