Bengaluru: A woman returning home after closing her milk shop was attacked and robbed of her 25-gram gold mangalsutra by unidentified chain-snatchers in the Doddabidarakallu area early Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred at around 5 am when Vijayamma, who runs a milk shop in the area, was heading home after closing her shop.
Woman attacked while returning home
According to the complaint, the accused suddenly approached Vijayamma and attacked her before snatching her mangalsutra. The woman fell to the ground and raised an alarm, but the accused fled from the spot with the gold chain.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV, which is expected to help police in identifying the suspects.
Police launch investigation
Following the incident, police launched an investigation and are working to identify and apprehend the accused.
The incident has raised concerns over the safety of residents travelling alone during the early morning hours. Police are examining the CCTV footage and other available information as part of efforts to trace those responsible.
