Bengaluru: In a deeply disturbing incident, a woman in Bengaluru has been accused of killing her pet Labrador as part of a suspected tantric ritual, officials confirmed on Saturday. The gruesome act took place earlier this week at her residence and was uncovered after neighbours alerted civic authorities to a foul odour emanating from the apartment.
Chilling Discovery
The accused, identified as Triparna Payak, allegedly strangled the dog and slit its neck, wrapped the body in cloth, and sealed her apartment before fleeing. Days later, officials from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) entered the locked apartment and discovered the decomposing corpse of the dog, confirming it had died four days earlier.
The scene inside shocked officials further — religious imagery was scattered across the flat, hinting at occult practices. Two other dogs were found alive but tied to a wall, and have since been moved to the BBMP animal hospital for care.
Investigation and Legal Action
A case has been registered under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and other relevant IPC sections at Mahadevpura police station. Authorities are probing whether the act was linked to black magic rituals or mental instability on the part of the accused, a West Bengal native.
