In a major letdown for fans, the eagerly awaited Cigarettes After Sex concert, set to take place today (Tuesday) at Bengaluru’s Bhartiya Mall, was abruptly canceled. The band issued an official statement blaming “local production” issues for the cancellation and apologized to the fans who had gathered in anticipation of the event.

The last-minute cancellation left concertgoers devastated. Although the reasons behind the cancellation remain unclear, disappointed fans took to social media to express their frustration, questioning whether the city is still capable of hosting major music events.

Fans voiced their anger over the situation, with one user, Sarthak, expressing disbelief, “Technical issues in the Silicon Valley of India. Ironic. Bengaluru has gone from a prime location for music to a hub for Bollywood beats and linguistic divide.”

Another user, Nikhil Kumar, blamed local authorities for the incident, stating, “Bangalore is being robbed of these experiences due to terrible administration. Our state government is failing this city, brick by brick.”

Some attendees compared this failure to the band’s smooth performance in Ahmedabad, which proceeded without issues. Additionally, many criticized BookMyShow for not notifying ticket holders in advance. One fan mentioned the inconvenience of traveling from distant areas only to learn about the cancellation at the venue.

This latest incident adds to concerns following comedian Trevor Noah’s canceled performance in September 2023 due to technical failures, further raising doubts about Bengaluru’s infrastructure for hosting large events.
