Bengaluru: In a medical breakthrough, Narayana Health City has successfully performed Bengaluru’s first Total Ankle Replacement (TAR) surgery, offering new hope to patients suffering from severe ankle arthritis.
The surgery was led by Dr. Shekar Mudramaiah, Orthopaedic Surgeon and Foot & Ankle Specialist, on 64-year-old Jacinta Agnes Mascarenhas, who had endured intense pain and restricted mobility for years.
Restoring Mobility
Before the surgery, Mascarenhas struggled with daily activities due to severe arthritis, significantly affecting her quality of life. Following the successful procedure, she has regained mobility and can now walk pain-free with natural movement.
A Complex Procedure with Global Expertise
The surgery involved highly specialized implants, sourced from the USA and the Netherlands, after securing necessary approvals from the Drug Control Authority of India. The procedure is considered technically demanding and requires expertise in foot and ankle surgery.
Advancing Orthopaedic Care in India
Dr. Mudramaiah emphasized the significance of this medical milestone, stating:
“This surgery proves that we can now offer a better, movement-preserving solution right here in Bengaluru. With greater access to these advanced implants, many more patients can benefit from this life-changing procedure.”
A Commitment to Innovation
This achievement highlights Narayana Health City’s dedication to advanced medical treatments, further strengthening Bengaluru’s position as a hub for cutting-edge healthcare innovations.
