Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has assured H.D. Kumaraswamy that the long-awaited Satellite Town Ring Road (STRR) project for Bengaluru will soon be reviewed by the Public Private Partnership Appraisal Committee (PPPAC). The project, designed to reduce traffic congestion in Bengaluru, aims to connect eight surrounding industrial towns. The two-phase, four-to-six-lane controlled-access road will link key areas and connect to the Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway.
Kumaraswamy stated that compensation for farmers affected by land acquisition will be expedited as part of the project, benefiting regions such as Ramanagara. The STRR, initially proposed in 2013, is estimated to cost ₹4,750 crore, spanning 135 km. It will alleviate city traffic by redirecting heavy vehicles away from urban roads.
