Bengaluru’s Skydeck Project Near NICE Road: A Major Tourist Attraction
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has announced plans for a 250-meter Skydeck near Bengaluru’s NICE Road, potentially transforming it into a major tourist attraction. Speaking to reporters, Shivakumar highlighted the Skydeck as a key project designed to draw tourists to Bengaluru, requiring a significant 25 acres of land. While the exact location is yet to be finalized, it is anticipated that the Skydeck will be constructed on land currently held by NICE Road promoters.
Shivakumar noted that the Supreme Court has mandated the transfer of 200 acres from NICE Road promoters to the Karnataka government, which will influence the final site selection. Previously, three potential sites were considered: Hemmigepura, Jnana Bharathi campus, and Kommaghatta. The 25-acre Hemmigepura site, managed by NICE, has received broad approval from state Cabinet members due to its panoramic views of Turahalli Forest and proximity to NICE Road and the Thalaghattapura Metro station.
However, there are concerns that the Skydeck project might impact plans for a second airport in Bengaluru. Civil aviation authorities have raised objections regarding some of the proposed locations for the Skydeck, potentially affecting its development.
The project promises to enhance Bengaluru’s skyline and attract visitors, but final decisions will hinge on resolving land and regulatory issues.
