Bengaluru’s traffic nightmare worsens as commuters endure agonizing delays
Bengaluru’s relentless traffic woes show no signs of improvement, with motorists spending excessive time covering minimal distances. Sarjapur Road, notorious for its congestion, continues to test commuters’ patience. On Tuesday, a resident shared that it took him a full hour to travel merely 4 kilometers, highlighting the worsening gridlock in East Bengaluru.
Frustrated, the commuter posted a snapshot of his vehicle’s LED screen on social media, illustrating the traffic chaos. Venting on the ‘Citizens Movements East’ community handle, he wrote, “Gridlock on Sarjapur Road! One hour for 4 km, and 13 km still ahead. Might make it by lunchtime. This is what happens when governance crumbles. @siddaramaiah @DKShivakumar, focus less on pay hikes and more on fixing this!”
Upon reaching his destination, he updated his ordeal: “A 14-km journey via ORR took two excruciating hours.” His post reignited concerns over crumbling infrastructure and inadequate traffic management. Residents pointed out that areas like Iblur Junction now rival Silk Board in congestion, with increasing population density and inefficient U-turns worsening the mess.
Another commuter fumed, “Brand Bengaluru! 5 km in 1 hour 20 minutes. Hats off to @DKShivakumar, @blrcitytraffic, and @BBMPCOMM for their stellar inaction.”
With complaints mounting, citizens demand immediate intervention to fix Bengaluru’s ever-growing traffic crisis.
