Bike Thief Arrested, Four Stolen Vehicles Recovered
Bengaluru: The Banashankari police have apprehended a 23-year-old man named Raghunandan, a resident of J.P. Nagar, who is accused of stealing two-wheelers by cutting their handle locks. The police were able to recover four stolen vehicles from him, with a total value of ₹1.25 lakh.
The arrest occurred after police received information regarding a recent bike theft within their jurisdiction. Upon further investigation, Raghunandan was identified as the suspect behind the thefts. His method involved cutting the locks on bikes, making it easier for him to steal and quickly escape the scene.
Raghunandan’s modus operandi included selling the stolen vehicles at significantly lower prices in rural areas, targeting unsuspecting buyers. This strategy not only helped him to dispose of the stolen bikes but also made it difficult for authorities to trace the vehicles back to him.
Following his arrest, police recovered four stolen two-wheelers that had been reported missing, which led to the resolution of several ongoing cases at both the Banashankari and J.P. Nagar police stations. Authorities have confirmed that the arrest has been pivotal in addressing the rising concern of bike thefts in the area.
A formal case has been registered at the Banashankari police station in relation to the thefts. Police believe that Raghunandan’s arrest will not only bring closure to the specific cases linked to him but will also serve as a deterrent against future thefts in the vicinity. The police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, reinforcing community safety.
The successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement in Bengaluru to tackle vehicle thefts and maintain public safety. With this arrest, the police aim to restore confidence among residents regarding the security of their vehicles.
