Biker from B’luru dies by falling into a pit dug up on road

Bengaluru: A 47-year-old man died after he fell into a pit on Hesaraghatta Main Road dug up for work by the Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB).

The deceased who has been identified as S. Anandappa (47), a resident of Mallasandra in T Dasarahalli was coming from 8th Mile, Peenya and was heading towards Bagalgunte.

According to reports, the wife of the deceased alleged that no proper warning signboards were placed near the dug-up portion of the road.

Speaking on the matter, BWSSB Chairman N. Jayaram confirmed that the road was dug up by BWSSB to complete the laying of a water pipeline under the Cauvery 5th stage. He said that barricading was done and despite that, an accident has taken place.

The traffic police have registered an FIR against the BWSSB contractor concerned and others.
