Birthday Celebration Turns to Burglary: Family Falls Victim to Thieves
In a troubling incident in Bengaluru, a family celebrating a birthday on the ground floor of their home became victims of theft when two robbers stole 30 grams of gold jewelry and ₹2.3 lakh in cash from the first floor. The suspects, who were on a scooter, had reportedly tried to break into multiple residences earlier that day without success.
According to a report by the Times of India, the event took place last week in Madeena Nagar while the family was immersed in festivities. The thieves, noticing the celebrations at Akbar Shariff’s home, parked their scooter some distance away and made their way upstairs.
As they descended after gathering the valuables, a sudden power outage occurred. Seizing the moment, the thieves returned to the first floor in hopes of finding additional loot. However, they were confronted by Shariff’s uncle, who questioned their motives. The duo quickly fabricated a story about searching for someone named Gopal. When the uncle informed them there was no Gopal present, they fled.
After realizing the theft, Shariff rushed to the police station, where he learned that several local residents had reported similar incidents involving the same culprits. Security footage from nearby buildings showed the pair with a backpack intended to carry the stolen goods. Authorities are currently investigating the matter and are optimistic about apprehending the suspects soon.
