Bengaluru: Sumalatha Ambareesh gave a joint press conference along with BJP leader and former Congressman S M Krishna, on Friday, March 15, and the actor was all praises for the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Speaking to the reporters, former chief minister S M Krishna said that BJP will decide on whether the party will contest LS polls from Mandya constituency after Sumalatha clarified her stand and also stated that he would announce the party’s decision on March 18.

According to sources from the state BJP, the party is considering leaving the Mandya constituency blank and back Sumalatha as an independent candidate in the elections. It is said that the BJP high command will discuss the matter regarding leaving Mandya to Sumalatha on Saturday, March 16, before confirming the candidate list for south Karnataka constituencies.

Meanwhile, the Janata Dal (S) is clear on not giving the Mandya seat to Sumalatha by declaring that H D Kumaraswamy’s son Nikhil Gowda will make his political debut from the constituency and the Congress is disheartened at the ‘rebellion’ of the wife of late Congress leader, Ambareesh.

Reportedly, D K Shivakumar has asked Sumalatha to consider Mysuru-Kodagu constituency. However, Sumalatha has said that she will make an official statement regarding her decision in a press conference on March 18.
