Bengaluru: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced its fourth list by naming 7 candidates. The party has fielded actor Jaggesh from Yeshwantpur Constituency and has dropped Vijayendra’s name from Varuna.
AC No | Name of the constituency | Candidate |
112 | Bhadravati | G R Pravin Patil |
153 | Yeshwantpur | Jaggesh |
172 | B T M Layout | Lallesh Reddy |
183 | Ramanagara | Smt. H Lilavathi |
184 | Kanakapura | Smt. Nandini Gowda |
195 | Belur | H K Suresh |
196 | Hassan | J Preetham Gowda |
With this list, the party has announced candidates for 220 seats out of total 224. Though the party has not named candidate for Varuna Assembly Constituency, BJP state chief B S Yeddyurappa ruled out his son contesting from there this time. Instead, he will work towards the victory of around 20 party candidates in the Mysuru-Chamarajanagar region by remaining in the region, he said addressing a party workers’ convention in Nanjangud.
The party’s decision not to field Vijayendra left many party activists disillusioned. Tension prevailed in the area after they blocked Vijayendra’s car and insisted on his candidature. Police resorted to mild lathi charge to bring the situation under control after angry supporters threw chairs from the podium.
BJP has fielded actor Jaggesh from Yeshwanthpur, the constituency once held by Shobha Karandlaje to avoid further confusion in party ranks by fielding the latter.
Party is likely to field former IPS officer and a prominent Lingayat leader Revannasiddiah from Varuna, who quit Congress recently.
