Sarojamma’s son Manju, who is also a suspect in the case, is on the run. Four others believed to be Manju’s friends are also arrested by Hebbagodi police for allegedly carrying out the murder on behalf of Sarojamma and her son. The police have identified the arrested persons as Madhu (23), Narayanaswamy (35), Murali (20) and C Manjunath (29). The police said the arrested persons had confessed that they are Manju’s friends and he offered them money to kill Srinivas Prasad.
The police are yet to confirm whether the murder was politically motivated or if it was carried out for personal reasons.
According to police sources, Sarojamma was eyeing the post of Bommasandra TMC president which was initially reserved for the Schedule Caste and later changed by the state government to Schedule Caste (woman). However, Prasad had challenged the change in the court and won the case.
