Bengaluru: Major irrigation minister D K Shivakumar alleged, on Sunday, that the BJP was trying to topple the Congress-JDS coalition government in the state.
Speaking to ANI, the minister accused the BJP of trying to destabilise the coalition government since its first day in power. “The BJP is unhappy with the election results. The people of Karnataka, however, are happy with our government,” he told ANI.
In response to BJP’s repeated assertions that they would form the new government after May 23 and party state president B S Yeddyurappa’s claim that they will form the new government after the by-polls in two constituencies, DKShi asked how they can change the government when there is an anti-defection law in place and when no other Congress MLA, except for one, is with them.
It can be recalled that on Friday, BSY had said that more than 20 Congress MLAs of the state were unhappy with the government.
Assuring that the people need not worry, DKShi told ANI that they would safeguard the government and honour the commitment made to them by the Congress president.
Regarding the clashes witnessed within the party and the government, he admitted that some of the leaders wanted power but said that not all can be satisfied.
