Bengaluru: A BJP leader has reportedly fallen prey to a loan racket, where a miscreant duped him into believing that he would receive a loan of Rs 150 crores.
The police on Tuesday, January 14, informed that BJP leader H Ravindra lost Rs 4.25 crores as a result of the scam.
“We have filed an FIR against the accused Harigopal Krishnan Nadar, Ranjan, Ranjith Fanikar, Mubarak and Abhishek, on the basis of the complaint filed by the victim at KP Agrahara Police Station. It is learned that the victim, Ravindra was in need of money for a layout and had discussed the same with his friends. His friends had then made him contact one of the accused, Harigopal Krishnan Nadar, who promised to give him a loan of Rs 150 crores,” said the police.
Explaining how Ravindra lost Rs 4.25 crores, the police said, “Ravindra, in his complaint, stated that the accused, Nadar had prepared a contract from a Registrar in Thodupuzha, Kerala. He informed Ravindra of the same and said that the fee for the contract paper was Rs 3.25 crores. He then took an additional Rs 1 crore towards the same fee. The accused had also been given a cheque in this regard.”
