Belagavi: Former Bahujan Samajwadi Party and BJP member who is currently in Congress was allegedly attacked by supporters of a present BJP MLA of Kagwad constituency in Belagavi. Vivek Shetty was allegedly assaulted in his own house by Bharamagauda Alagauda (Raju) Kage’s henchmen to avenge Vivek’s post on Facebook against the former.

One of the CCTV cameras caught a scene of 11 rowdies barging into the apartment where Vivek lived. Though this incident occurred on January 1 of this year, it came to light on January 9. It can be seen in the CCTV footage that at 8.58 am on January 1, 2017, Raju’s henchmen dragged Vivek down the stairs and assaulted him in the open.

The MLA in question has denied all allegations against him and said that there is no way that he can be involved in this assault. “This is a politically motivated conspiracy brought out to the open to defame me since the APMC elections are fast approaching”, Raju said.

Vivek is going through medical treatment at a private hospital in Meeraj, Maharashtra. Apart from several severe injuries, Vivek Shetty also has a fractured leg. A case has still not been booked at the station even after nine days since the incident.
