Bengaluru: Senior Congress leader and Davanagere North MLA Shamanur Shivashankarappa has alleged that the BJP leaders including former CM BS Yeddyurappa offered him DCM’s post as part of the Operation Kamala, but he made it clear that he will never quit the party.
Speaking to the reporters in Davanagere, he stated that it is true that the BJP made him an offer. “The offer is still valid, but I will never quit Congress. I am a born Congressman. No one can make me quit the party,” he stated.
Shamanur Shivashankarappa is the Veerashaiva-Lingayat face of the Congress party who is enjoying strong influence in Davanagere, Chithradurga, Shivamogga, and parts of Ballari district.
“The BJP will never come to power in the state. If the party gives me any responsibility including ministership, I will work. Else I will work in my constituency. I will not be disappointed even if I am not offered any position,” he said.
He also expressed confidence that the JDS-Congress coalition will win in all the constituencies that went in for the by-election.
