Bengaluru: The recent riot that occurred during the Eid Milad procession in Shivamogga has evolved into a contentious matter, sparking a heated political discourse between the BJP and Congress. The BJP has shared a video, claiming that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stayed silent despite individuals brandishing swords and weapons during the Eid Milad procession. This has led to allegations of favoring secularism.

The video footage shows individuals openly displaying swords, knives, and various other weapons during the procession. Nevertheless, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has not issued a statement in response to this incident. The episode has given rise to apprehensions regarding the Congress government’s management of the situation, with allegations that it is not taking sufficient measures against those engaged in such actions. Some individuals have gone to the extent of labeling the Congress government in Karnataka as a “Jihadi government.

Chakravarthy Sulibele, while speaking to the media regarding the Shivamogga riots, has raised concerns about the government’s capability to ensure the safety of the police. He stressed the importance of the Home Minister taking responsibility for the protection of his department. Sulibele clarified that the incident in Shivamogga should not be characterized as a Hindu-Muslim riot since Hindu homes were targeted in the absence of any Hindu involvement. He characterized it as a confrontation between Muslims and the police.
