Bengaluru: Condemning the “serial murders” of Hindu activists, the state BJP has decided to carry out a Padayatra at Kodagu and coastal districts from March 3 to 6.

The Padayatra would begin from Kushalanagar of Kodagu and Kumta of Uttara Kannada on March 3 and reach Surathkal of Dakshina Kannada on March 6. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will address the gathering at the public rally to be held here.

A lengthy discussion was held regarding the Padayatra at a meeting headed by BJP State In-Charge Muralidhara Rao, Election In-Charge Prakash Javadekar and State President B S Yeddyurappa. The state has witnessed several killings of Hindu activists during Congress tenure, alleges BJP.

The Saffron Brigade will start the Padayatra on March 3 from Kushalnagar where the first murder was reported, from Kumta near Honnavar where Paresh Mesta was killed. Later, it will culminate at Surathkal (Katipalla) where Deepak Rao was killed. By inviting UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the public function, BJP wants to concretise its vote bank in the coastal districts and Malnad region.
