Bengaluru: A K Subbaiah, four-time MLC and close associate of BJP stalwarts including Atal Bihari Vajpayee, passed away today in a city hospital. He died due to age-related complications.
Subbaiah was one of the key leaders who built the BJP in Karnataka and was a prominent party leader before 1983. He was also the BJP’s first Karnataka state president. He later turned a bitter critic of the party.
A native of the Bellur village in Virajpet, Subbaiah was a High Court advocate.
He led several progressive movements in the state. His book RSS Antharanga (Soul of the RSS) is considered to be an inspiration for many anti-RSS movements in Karnataka.
