Bengaluru: In separate incidents, 10 people have been arrested in the city for selling antiviral drug Remdesivir in black market.
The medical representatives, hospital employees and a nursing college professor are among the arrested. The drug was allegedly sold at a price 8 – 10 higher than its maximum retail price (MRP). In all, 37 vials of the injection have been seized from them, police said. The north division police and the Central Crime Branch (CCB) carried out the arrest.
It was earlier reported that Subramanyanagar police has arrested three, who are identified as Dinesh M (27), a professor at Little Flower Nursing College in Mallathahalli, Shankar (42), a lab technician at Gayathri Diagnostic Centre in Nagarbhavi, and Johnny H, 34, an HR manager St Theresa Hospital. Police have seized a car, two mobile phones and Rs 5,000 in cash.
Further, on a tip-off, the police arrested three people identified as medical receptionists Janardhan N. S., Deepak and Lokesh, a receptionist at a private hospital near Divine Hospital.
These apart, the CCB arrested four people, including hospital employees, and seized 12 vials of Remdesivir from them.
The incidents of arrest were made on Wednesday May 5 and Thursday May 6.
