A powerful explosion shook Wilson Garden in central Bengaluru on Friday morning, leaving at least 10 people suspected injured and causing significant structural damage. The incident occurred around 8:25 am in Chinnayanpalya, a locality near Wilson Garden.
According to preliminary reports from the fire department, a possible LPG cylinder leak may have triggered the blast. The fire control room received an emergency call at 8:25 am, and two fire tenders were immediately dispatched at 8:26 am. Upon arrival, responders found that three houses had collapsed due to the force of the explosion.
Eyewitnesses described the sudden blast as loud enough to startle the neighborhood, followed by dust, debris, and people rushing out in panic. Residents quickly gathered to assist those trapped under rubble until emergency crews arrived.
Senior police officials reached the site soon after to oversee rescue operations and begin a preliminary investigation. While cylinder leakage remains the primary suspicion, authorities have not ruled out other causes, and forensic teams are expected to conduct further examinations.
The injured are being shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment, and their conditions are being assessed. Firefighters and police personnel have cordoned off the area to prevent further risks while ensuring all residents are accounted for.
The incident has reignited safety concerns regarding LPG cylinder handling and residential building safety in densely populated areas of Bengaluru. More details are expected once the official investigation progresses.
