Bengaluru: Black ink was thrown on farmer leaders Rakesh Tikait and Yudhvir Singh at an event in Karnataka on Monday May 30.
Tikait and Singh were smeared with ink while trying to explain a video of a regional channel’s sting operation in which Karnataka farmer leader Kodihalli Chandrashekar was seen asking for money.
Rakesh and Yudhveer were speaking to the media to clarify that they were not engaged and that action must be taken against Kisan leader Kodihalli Chandrashekhar. During the press conference, a few people started arguments and threw black ink and chairs at them.
“The ink was thrown by supporters of farmer leader Chandrashekar,” said Tikait. He blamed the local police for the incident. He alleged that the Karnataka government was complicit in the protests, claiming that there was no security.
The miscreants, who are believed to be Chandrashekar’s supporters, were arrested by the police.
