Bengaluru: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Tuesday May 24 began evicting encroachers from storm water drains.

According to BBMP officials, the delay in evicting the encroachers is mostly due to survey and litigation. The Survey Settlement Department Commissioner has been instructed to depute more surveyors to complete the process. The BBMP is yet to clear encroachments in as many as 696 locations.

It is learnt that the silt from the drains will be dumped in Anjanapura and Bellahalli quarries.
