Bengaluru: A Bengaluru resident has fallen into Goregaon police net on Tuesday, for raping a Mumbai man after promising marriage.
The accused, identifed as Shazan Sheikh, a native of Uttar Pradesh has been residing and working in Bengaluru over the last few years.
According to reports, Sheikh had met the victim on a dating site few months ago and the two had gradually developed friendship. In August, Sheikh visited Mumbai and resided at the victim’s house where he forced the latter into a physical relation with him after promising to marry him. The very next day they had a secret wedding at the victim’s home. The two continued to have sexual contact for next four days.
After Sheikh left for Bengaluru, he however started avoiding the victim’s calls and even blocked his number.
Based on the victim’s complaint Sheikh has been booked under section 377 and 420 of the IPC. He was produced before the Borivali metropolitan court on Wednesday which remanded him to police custody for three days.
