Bengaluru: Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Tuesday April 12 visited waterbodies in the City and deliberated with experts on their restoration.
Later, Rajeev Chandrashekar tweeted, “Today visited many lakes that @BJP4Karnataka govt and my colleague MLAs have restored and reclaimed from Congress government’s deliberate destruction. For years have fought to protect Bengaluru’s lakes. Fulfilling PM @narendramodi #AmritKere vision.”

He recalled during his visit that he had fought for eight years to recover the Mestripalaya lake, which was once claimed by encroachers. He was elated that its restoration is in final stages. The minister also asked about plans for lake restoration with the officials of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike.
His visits to Kempaambudhi, Gubbalala and Mestripalya lakes were part of the initiative to develop 75 ‘Amrit Sarovars’ as directed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi by reviving and rejuvenating the existing waterbodies.
