Bengaluru: Home Minister Araga Jnanendra on Friday September 3 has instructed the traffic police to strictly follow towing rules when lifting vehicles from no-parking.

In a press release it is stated that the Home Minister at a meeting is said to have told the police personnel to alert the vehicle owners by blowing the siren and then collect the fee fixed for parking the vehicle at the no-parking area from the owner before seizing the vehicle.

The release further stated that the Home Minister has strictly asked the police officials to be courteous with the public and not damage vehicles during towing.

Meanwhile, City Police Commissioner has already issued a standard operating procedure for the towing staff such as taking photo or videos of vehicles parked in non-parking areas before towing.

The action by the Minister and Police Commissioner comes in the wake of complaints by the majority of the vehicle users on harrassment suffered by them.
