Bengaluru: Following increasing instances of one-way rule violations and accidents, the city police started confiscating the driving licenses of those who violate this rule. In the last two weeks, they seized as many as 17,000 DLs for this violation.
The city traffic police decided to recommend cancellation of these licenses to the state transport department.
“We are collecting Rs.500 spot-fine from the erring drivers. Along with this, to send a strong message to all the erring drivers, we are confiscating the DLs also,” informed police.
According to Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) BR Ravikanthe Gowda, a majority of the drivers violate this rule intentionally. “It is as dangerous as drinking and driving. So, we are recommending the cancellation of DLs,” he said.
