Bengaluru: The parents of students at St. Mary’s Girls High School on Millers Road have been notified that they must have their children vaccinated before the board exams. The school authorities have informed that since vaccination is compulsory, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will hold a vaccination camp at the school.
“Vaccination certificate is a must for the board exam. Girls who were absent today must be vaccinated from whichever place you prefer. You must produce the certificate by this week itself. It is compulsory and one must take it seriously,” read the WhatsApp message.
According to sources, Sister Sharlet, the school’s principal, said that students must be vaccinated and added that they did so in line with the education department’s directives.
However, according to the guidelines given by the Government of India, schools are not authorised to force students to get vaccinated.
