Bengaluru: Following widespread public outcry, the City Traffic Police carried out a special drive against Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) garbage vehicles on Wednesday April 20. The Police has registered cases against 307 trucks over non-adherence to various clauses of the law.
At the time of drive, the Police found that a few drivers were driving after consuming liquor. In all 652 vehicles were inspected by the traffic police. As many as nine vehicles were seized.
BBMP officials too are part of this drive.
Drivers of a few vehicles were found driving after consuming liquor, while a few vehicles didn’t have fitness certificates.
It can be recalled here that in the gap of one month, BBMP garbage trucks claimed three lives resulting in widespread public outcry. Following this, Police has decided to carry out a special drive.
