Bengaluru: In a disturbing case that has sparked outrage, a BMTC bus driver allegedly assaulted a 30-year-old motorcyclist near Jalahalli Cross Junction, causing a serious injury to his private part. The victim, Suraj (name changed), a sales representative from Banashankari 3rd Stage, is currently undergoing medical treatment and may require surgery if internal bleeding does not subside.

The incident occurred on April 8 on Tumakuru Road, near T Dasarahalli Metro station. As Suraj was riding home, a BMTC bus (KA-57-AF-4319) abruptly swerved into his lane without any signal. The sudden movement nearly caused him to lose balance. Suraj claims the driver was busy arguing with a passenger when the dangerous manoeuvre occurred.

Concerned for road safety, Suraj approached the bus at a traffic stop to advise the driver to be more mindful. The driver, however, reacted aggressively, hurling abuses and escalating the situation. Suraj decided to leave, but the driver allegedly chased him, dangerously weaving the bus close to his bike.

When the traffic signal at Jalahalli Cross turned red, the driver reportedly jumped off the bus and physically attacked Suraj, kicking him in the groin. Witnesses intervened to stop further assault, but not before the driver allegedly threatened to kill him.

Suraj sought help from traffic police, and was rushed to the hospital by a Hoysala patrol team. Doctors diagnosed a swollen testicle and internal clotting, placing him under observation.

Police have registered a case under BNS sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 126 (wrongful restraint), 351 (criminal intimidation), and 352 (intentional insult). A notice will be issued to the bus driver.

This case has reignited concerns over public transport driver behaviour and passenger safety in Bengaluru. BMTC is yet to release an official statement.
