Bengaluru: The KSRTC and BMTC have sought Rs 332 crores from the state government to pay April’s salaries to the staff. KSRTC MD Shivayogi Kalasad has written a letter to the state government in this regard.

According to sources, out of Rs 332 crores, Rs 101 crores is for the BMTC while the rest is for the three divisions of the KSRTC.

Presently, over 1.35 lakh staff are working in the BMTC and KSRTC across the state.

Both the KSRTC and BMTC had also sought relief from the motor tax payment, which amounts to Rs 497.48 crores, for the financial year 2020-21.

According to the authorities, the KSRTC has also sought a special financial package from the state government as it was forced to stop operations from the last week of March due to the lock down and the COVID-19 crisis.

The state government is yet to respond to the request made by the two corporations.
