The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has announced the launch of driver training courses aimed at equipping the general public with essential driving skills. This initiative marks an important step towards enhancing road safety and promoting responsible driving in the city.
Driver Training Courses Offered
BMTC’s training programme includes courses for both Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) and Heavy Passenger Vehicles (HPVs). The courses are designed to cater to individuals interested in acquiring a driving licence and improving their driving capabilities.
Eligibility Criteria
To enrol in the LMV training, applicants must be at least 18 years old. For those interested in HPV training, the minimum age requirement is 20 years.
Applicants are required to submit the following documents:
- Proof of birth (acceptable documents include birth certificates, SSLC marks cards, transfer certificates, or notary-certified documents)
- Aadhaar card
- Five passport-sized photographs
Course Duration and Fees
Both training courses are designed to be completed in 26 days and are offered in two formats: residential and non-residential. The fee structure is as follows:
LMV Training with Driving Licence:
- Residential: ₹13,000
- Non-residential: ₹7,000
HPV Training with Driving Licence:
- Residential: ₹16,700
- Non-residential: ₹11,000

New Bus Route Announcement
In addition to the driver training initiative, BMTC is set to launch a new non-AC bus route starting October 3. The new route, numbered 298MY, will operate between Yeshwantpur and Devanahalli, passing through key areas such as Mathikere, BEL Circle, Hebbal, and Yelahanka.
The service will feature two buses that will run six one-way trips daily, providing an essential transportation option for commuters in these areas.
