Bomb Threat Email Shocks North Bengaluru College, Principal Targeted
An unidentified individual sent a chilling email to a private college in North Bengaluru, threatening to plant a bomb and inflict brutal harm on the institution’s principal, police officials confirmed on Tuesday.
The disturbing message was delivered to the official email account of Acharya Institutes at 9:08 a.m. on April 22. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the sender warned of an imminent explosion on campus and made graphic threats to mutilate the principal, stating they would be dismembered and stored in a refrigerator.
Following receipt of the message, Manish Kumar Thakur, Chief Operating Officer of the educational group, approached the police with a formal complaint. Initially, a non-cognizable report (NCR) was filed, which does not warrant immediate arrest or investigation. However, with judicial approval, Soladevanahalli police registered an FIR on April 26.
The case falls under Section 351 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to criminal intimidation. Authorities believe the email may be part of a phishing attempt or a deliberate act of mischief.
An officer familiar with the investigation said that while no explosives were found on campus, the threat is being taken seriously and digital tracking is underway to identify the source of the message.
Investigators are currently pursuing leads and examining email metadata to trace the origin and intent behind the alarming threat.
