Bengaluru: Supreme Court lawyer Vikas Bonsade has been appointed as the legal advisor to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
The post was vacant following resignation of Brijesh Kalappa.
Previously, Bonsade had served as legal advisor to the then Governor H R Bhardwaj. He has worked as advisor to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Board among others. He was also shortlisted to be appointed legal advisor to the Lokayukta’s Special Investigation Team which is probing illegal mining in the state.
Bonsade was in the news a couple of years ago, when Z+ security was provided to him following reported threat from the mining mafia. It was later scaled down to ‘X’ category.
