Bengaluru: A brawl between two under-trials lodged in Parappana Agrahara Central Prison has left a 23-year-old prisoner severely injured.
The brawl took place on Monday over a trivial issue, said sources adding that victim Ravikumar Kamanna was taken to hospital with multiple injuries. Due to the severity of the injuries, he was later shifted to the Victoria hospital.
According to prison officials, Kamanna and Choudappa came out of Tower II’s B Barrack of the central prison for lunch break and soon got into an argument, which snowballed into a fistfight, leaving Kamanna injured.
Though fellow prisoners and the prison security staff had rushed to Kamanna’s rescue, he had collapsed.
Chief superintendent M Somashekar filed a complaint at the Parappana Agrahara police station against Choudappa. Police then booked Choudappa for assault and intentional insult to provoke breach of peace.
In October last year, Tabrez, a convict at the prison was attacked by fellow inmate Saleem TP over breakfast.
