Tired of enduring years of crumbling infrastructure and inaction, the people of Holiday Village Road in Mallasandra, near Kanakapura Road, have decided to stage a protest this Sunday. Their demands are simple yet urgent: immediate road restoration and safe living conditions.

“The stretch has been in a horrible state for over three years,” said Shrikant Kulkarni, a Purva Highlands resident. “They dig one side, then switch to the other without completing anything. This has been going on endlessly.”

Despite repeated reassurances from public representatives and officials, the appointed contractor has failed to deliver. “Though we met our MLA and were told the matter had reached both the CM and DCM, there’s been no real progress,” said Tejaswi Deshikar, head of Sattva Misty Charm. “Even with orders from the top, the contractor has remained inactive.”

The situation worsened as the rains arrived. Residents report frequent mishaps. “A new mother in our building had to be rushed to the hospital, and getting through the pothole-filled, muddy road was terrifying,” Deshikar recalled. Last year, two school buses got stuck and required cranes to be pulled out.

BBMP officials recently inspected the site. “The contractor is clearly inefficient. Work is dragging. Some areas are submerged under two feet of water,” noted Pradeep Shenoy of Godrej Eternity.

MLA ST Somashekar admitted delays and said a Rs 10 lakh penalty was imposed. He promised roadwork would resume after the rains, to be completed in 15 days. Until then, residents await relief.
