Bengaluru: The state higher education department handed over free laptops to all the first-year students of all the government first-grade colleges on Sunday, January 12.
The programme aims at distributing 1, 09, 916 laptops to students. However, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Sunday symbolically handed over eight laptops on stage to students during the Swami Vivekanand birth anniversary and National Youth Day programme.
During the programme, achievers in different fields were felicitated by BSY. Vivekanand Halligere – founder of Bounce Scooter, Veda Krishnamurthy – Women Cricketer, Pranav Vittalapathy – Software, and Radha Venkatesh- Differently-abled sportswoman were felicitated.
Meanwhile, Youth Empowerment centres were also inaugurated.
Swami Mangalanathanandaji of Ramakrishna Mission, Bengaluru, Deputy Chief Minister Dr Ashwath Narayan and others were present.
