Bengaluru: Responding to the recent statement of CM HD Kumaraswamy that Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge should have been the CM in the coalition government, BJP State President BS Yeddyurappa has questioned HDK why he was wasting time instead of fulfilling his wish.

“If he thinks that Kharge should have been the CM, let him step down right away and fulfil his wish, ” said BSY.

Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy had stated that he was happy to leave the CM’s post to senior Congress leader Mallikharjun Kharge, if the Congress high command had come out with such a proposal in 2018, after the announcement of the state assembly election results.

Addressing a Congress-JDS election rally in the Chincholi, he stated that Kharge deserves to be the CM of the state. “We were ready. But Congress high command didn’t propose his name,” he said urging the voters to not lose the veteran leader.

“We need to support him by defeating the BJP here,” he said.

CM HDK’s statement gained importance with Congress national leaders are reportedly considering of proposing the change in the CM post in the state due to various reasons including poor health of HDK.

Taking a jibe at the CM’s promise to adopt Chincholi, BSY questioned why the CM paid no attention to the constituency for a year, when it really needed his attention.

Expressing confidence on the BJP sweeping the LS polls in Karnataka, BSY said that the party will win 22 seats in the state without any doubts and some veterans like HD Devegowda, Mallikarjun Kharge and KH Muniyappa will taste defeat.
