Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will present fourth budget of Congress government on March 15. This will be his 12th budget-a first for a politician in Karnataka.

A decision has been taken to hold 15-day budget from March 15 to 28 at the meeting of state Cabinet on Wednesday said, T. B. Jayachandra, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs. A note on seeking permission in this regard to the Governor Vajubhai Vala, he said.

The cabinet has taken a decision to increase the ratio for the appointment to the post of gazetted A and B group probations from the existing 1:3 to 1:5.

It is significant that P.C. Hota Committee which had been set up to recommend reforms to ensure accountability and better transparency in the recruitment process by the KPSC had recommended the ration of 1:3.

Justifying the decision of the cabinet to increase the ratio, Jayachandra said that, the decision would allow more candidates from rural areas to get selected for the interview and that will be given the opportunity to perform well in the personality test. “However competition will increase”, he said.

The government has decided to start an engineering college at Talkal of Koppal district and earmarked Rs.111-crore for the purpose.
